Secretaría de Turismo del Estado de Querétaro
Internship

Three vertical reels produced during my internship for the Centro de Atención y Protección al Turista (CAPTA), an intergovernmental initiative dedicated to tourist assistance and protection in Querétaro, Mexico. The videos introduce sensory vests and belts designed to support people with hearing and sensory disabilities, showing how they are used at the National Day of Deaf People event at the Querétaro Livestock Fair and during the theatrical production Los Insurgentes.
CAPTA asked for three reels for its official social media to promote the sensory vests and belts and raise awareness about accessibility. They told me what they wanted to see in each reel, and I had creative freedom for the rest.
I attended the events, tried the vests myself and talked with the CAPTA team to understand how the tools work. I communicated with users through an interpreter, since I don’t know sign language.

The three reels share one concept and visual identity, so they work as a series. Since the audience includes people with hearing disabilities, I made the conscious decision to add subtitles to every reel.
I wrote the scripts, filmed and edited the reels in Adobe Premiere Pro, with color correction, music and subtitles. At the play “Los Insurgentes,” I filmed in a non-intrusive way so as not to break the magic for the audience. In the vest presentation reel, my assistant was nervous and couldn’t deliver the whole script in one take, so I decided to record it in parts.
CAPTA supervised the whole process and gave me instructions along the way. No changes were requested on the final reels.
The reels were published on CAPTA’s social media and received positive comments from Deaf people. My supervisors at CAPTA loved the videos.
